We Can All Be A Gideon

Do you remember the story of Gideon. The son of Joash. Remember how when the Midianites were coming against them, Gideon went into the winepress to thresh the wheat to hide it from the Midianites. The Angel of the Lord appeared to him and said "The LORD is with you, you mighty man of valor!"

Gideon was astonished at this saying because he did not see himself as a mighty man of valor but as a small stature man, possibly even afraid of his own shadow. His self confidence is not very good as we see when we read on where he tells the Angel of the LORD that his clan is the weakest of all clans, and he is the least in his fathers' house. How many times do you suppose he heard those words spoken about him? How many times do you think someone said oh those Abiezrites, they are weak, what can they do for the rest of us? Little did they know that God had a plan for a man named Gideon.

Judges 6 v 12...And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him, and said to him, "The LORD is with you, you mighty man of valor!"....

Judges 6 v 14...Then the LORD turned to him and said, "Go in this might of yours, and you shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites. Have I not sent you?".....

Judges 6 v 15....So he said to Him, "O my LORD, how can I save Israel? Indeed my clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father's house."....

Judges 6 v 16....and the LORD said to him, "Surely I will be with you, and you shall defeat the Midianites as one man.".....

God makes a promise and He doesn't break it. If GOD brings you to something, He will bring you through it. His people could never grasp that. No matter what He did. He brought them out of Egypt, He told them He would bring them to a land of milk and honey, but yet after all the miracles along the way, they still complained and murmured against God. Only two ended up crossing over into the promise land, and that was Joshua and Caleb. Why? Because of lack of faith in what God said the others wandered in the wilderness for forty years. But not so with Joshua and Caleb.

Just like Joshua and Caleb, believing that God would deliver them from their enemy, but all the others saw giants and were afraid. They saw the enemy being much larger than them, and then that was all they could see. But not so with Joshua and Caleb, they saw what the LORD had promised them, Victory.

It is the same with us today, we can all be Gideons, Joshuas, and Calebs. We have it in us. God did not give us the spirit of fear, but the spirit of the LORD is within us. We have the power of the LORD to fight our enemies, (our problems, ours illnesses, etc.) We can each be a Gideon, a mighty man of valor. We just have to believe and receive. AMEN!
