Where Is The Power

The power to withstand the attacks of the devil are within us. That means within you, and within me. This is good news. We had an awesome message last night about the power being within us. And there were some scriptures shared that came to light for me. Also, this morning after reading one of my devotionals I saw again where the power lies. It does not lie in the church, in your Pastor, in the TV evangelists, no the power you need to conquer your battle lies within you.

One of the scriptures used last night was in Romans, where it is talking about Abraham being old, (about a hundred) and Sarah his wife being as old, and God told him that he would father many nations. Now remember, Abram did not have any children as of yet (and he is a hundred) and here is Sarah who is barren, (can't have children) and God says you will father many nations. WOW! Now let's look at this today. If you were say 85 and your wife was 80 and she has been barren all her life, and God spoke to you and said you will have a child and he will start a long line of heirs for you. Would you believe Him? Would you have enough faith in what God says to be able to see yourself with a son, and many heirs to follow. Let's try something simpler. Say God tells you that you are healed from some disease the doctor says you have. Would you believe what He says or what the doctor says. Can you see yourself healed, or do you see yourself sick?

Is 53 v 5....But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities, The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.....

Here is where the power comes in. Look at how Abraham responded to what God had said.

Romans 4 v 19-21....And not being weak in faith, he did not consider his own body, already dead (since he was about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah's womb. He did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised, He was also able to perform........

You see Abraham did not look at his circumstances. He was determined to believe that what God says, He will do. AMEN! And so now today we are all descendants of Abraham. He saw himself old and questioned hence why we have Ishmael, Hagars' son. That is another story but you see Abraham did struggle at first, and Sarah even laughed at what the Lord had said, and the Lord questioned Abraham, does she think that anything is too hard for the Lord to do? Whoa! Do we question the Lord's ability when we do not believe and do not receive what He has already done for us?

Another part of this scripture tells us that what God did for Abraham was not just for him. The power God gave Abraham is also given to us through His Son Christ Jesus.

Romans 4 v 23-25....Now it was not written for his sake alone that it was imputed to him, but also for us. It shall be imputed to us who believe in Him who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead, who was delivered up because of our offenses, and was raised because of our justification.....

The power that works in Jesus works in us, those of us who believe in Him. AMEN!

Now here is where the faith comes from to believe.

Romans 10 v 17....So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God....

Now look with me and see where the word tells us that whatever we ask for, whatever we believe we receive, we will have.

Mark 11 v 24......Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.....

So my question to you is this. When you pray for your healing do you see yourself healed, or do you see yourself sick. What you see unfortunately is what most people believe. If you have to see something to believe it, then don't pray for your healing until you see yourself healed. Don't pray for your finances to be restored, if you still see yourself poor. Wait until you see yourself prospering.

Well, what does that statement say? It says that you are putting your belief in only what you can see. The word tells us that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things NOT seen.

Heb. 11 v 1.....Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.....

Could Abraham see himself a father at a hundred years old? Not without his faith in what God says is true. He first had to believe then he could see in the unnatural world not just in the natural. He had to tap into the power that was within him to be able to believe while his circumstances did not seem to fit with what God said.

Jesus tells his disciples to tarry in the city, until the power from on high comes to them. Why? He did not want them trying to just get by, He wanted them to have the same power He had, so that they could do the same works that He did while here on earth.

Luke 24 v 49...."Behold I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high"........

Next time you pray and ask God for something, see it as done, see that you have the power within you to do whatever God asks you to do. Tap into His power that is within you, then and only then will you reach your full potential God has for you.

When things look like there is no way out, remember what Paul and Silas did when they were locked in prison in chains. They tapped into that power that was within them. How? By praying and singing and worshiping the LORD. If you want to release that potential in you, release the power within you, then start praising Him and worshiping Him, and giving Him the glory, and the chains will fall off and the doors will be unlocked, so that you can reach your goal.

Acts 16 v 25-26.......But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone's chains were loosed.....

This is good news. God gave each of us the power to loose our own chains. We do not have to stand in a prayer line waiting for our turn. The power lies within you and me. AMEN! Find that power, stir it up.

STAY IN THE WORD!
